War Child and Social Media

Yesterday I watched a presentation by James Topham of War Child Canada and Dave Jones from Hill & Knowlton. They discussed how War Child Canada has used social media to increase donations, awareness and volutneers. Great project.

Hard Drive, Online - No Problem

I demo the Pogoplug, a super easy way to get your hard drives online and accessible from anywhere, even on a iPhone. I ordered this online from the U.S. It arrived in two days. Worked perfectly right out of the box. Now have a terrabyte of my archives available no matter where I am. Can even see them on my iPhone. And, I can share any folder with folks by sending them an email. They can also keep track of folder changes via an RSS feed. Very sweet.

Embracing Twitter from the Top Down

Yesterday I interviewed viigo President and CEO Mark Ruddock for rabbletv. We discussed how he uses Twitter to keep track of his company's social media shadow, stay on top of competitors and connect with his customers. I did the interview at the Social Media Summit in Toronto, April 29, 2009 (put on by the Advanced Learning Institute). Mark's approach to social media was really heartening. He approaches it with an honest, engaged attitude and listens 24/7 to the voice of his community. Hope you enjoy it.

My Quick Change Vidcast is Live

I've just started a new HD vidcast for rabbletv called "Quick Change - Ten Minutes with the Tenants of the Centre for Social Innovation". It's something I've been wanting to do ever since I helped rabble.ca launch rabbletv. In Quick Change I'll be interviewing some of the most interesting folks at the 150 NGOs and non-profits that call the CSI home. I'll try to do a new episode every few weeks. This first one is a scene setter with the CSI's executive director, Tanya Surman.Stay tuned for more. Hope you enjoy them. All feedback welcome.
